The Dichotomy of Everything - Part 1

The dichotomy of everything puzzles me.

Neither do I hold my intellect in high regard nor is it at a level that is unattainable by normal homo sapiens (or Cercopithecidae or Canis lupus familiaris or Delphinidae). Mediocrity though, is probably the only disease I do not suffer from, yet. In the past decade, every conversation that I have engaged in with the pseudo erudite (read marginally educated or read, a sub-set of which I am a part of) and the honestly educated (read focused understanding of issues through a study of past & present) seems to point to - This world is polarized down to the discussions of particle & wave. What once was the basis of my pursuit of a phD is now a cause for substantial mirth, endless entertainment and an underlying distress in what I now call - The dichotomy of everything.

Disclaimer (as is necessary in all such discussions) - I am religion, theism, sex, race, country, color agnostic.
Disclaimer 2 (because the first is just not enough) - I am not a Hindu. I am not Theist. I am not a man. I am not an Aryan.  I am not an Indian. I am not brown.
Disclaimer 3 (because two may not suffice) - What is attempted is ONLY a point of view not intended to oppose or disagree with any opposing or contrary point of view.
In this world where everyone may take offense to everything, here is hoping three disclaimers are enough.

Of Religion
The pre-historic worship of ancestors, adapted to 'Kaliyuga', modified to the reign of Akhenaten,  aided with the Confucian writing of Shu Ching, supplemented with the scriptures of the Tao Te Ching, complemented with the writing of the Hebrew Bible followed by the birthing of the Jesus of Nazareth, till the ascent of the Mayan Civilization; religion was mostly (key word) driven as a construct of order and respect. It was arguably (key word) a process to purpose, enabled by simple (arguable)  daily ablutions and discipline in existence. The inclusions of 'key word' are for the educated & erudite who would raise a million oppositions to contrary theory, all of which will be just that - a theory.

The objective though of that intolerably verbose paragraph -  the basis of religion was probably positive. The unfortunate metamorphosing into a driver to politics, power and (catastrophically) violence motivated by chaos which is the opposite of what its initial purpose could have been  is while a tad ironic, the biggest failure of our collective intellect. Could we not then reset for just a second and consider every religion (not to be confused with faith or god or race or color) as a driver of positive. Could we not walk into a Church, Gurdwara, Mosque, Madrassa, Monastery, Pagoda, Shrine, Synagogue  Temple or our Home(capitalized, alphabetically ordered, attempted eclectic inclusion with no specific preference clearly indicated) with the same respectful stride as we would into the 'religion' of our birth or choice.

Indulge in Debate and discussions, treated as entertainment, on a personal scope or a much larger scale, televised and marketed as the 'Double D of Dichotomy' without running down any other opposing point of view; for at the precipice of intellect, isn't that what every other religion (other than the one you are born into or choose) really is - an opposing point of view which deserves equable respect without mandatory acceptance. Mandatory though after the indulgence in the Double D of Dichotomy, a round of the poison of choice to every participant.

Of God
Symbolically different from the discussion about Religion. While there are intersection points between the two; one being a symbol or the ring-bearer for the other; we could clearly state the statement in contention when I (personal definition for demarcation) am talking about God (capitalization aimed at unoffending theists).

The Question - Is there a higher form of being, who has the power to influence our realm of existence.

  • For Some- Is there a creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being?
  • For others - Is there a superhuman being or spirit having power over nature or human fortunes?

The Answer - Does it really matter?

  • Theism : belief in the existence of a god or gods; specifically : belief in the existence of one God viewed as the creative source of the human race and the world who transcends yet is immanent in the world
  • Antitheism: active opposition to theism. The term has had a range of applications. In a theistic context it sometimes refers to opposition to a specific god or gods. (Keeping its implications to religions outside of this discussion)

While one may want to define themselves as Theist, they are by definition Anti-Theist if there is active opposition to any other form of Theism. Any organized support for the existence of God (unfortunately easily currently replaced with religion with a personal request to enable your intellect to keep these two thoughts separate) could co-exist with an organized support for the existence of another God / Gods or the support of the non-existence of them (not to be confused with Science).

So do the Double D of Dichotomy without running down any other opposing point of view, for at the precipice of intellect, isn't that what your view on the existence of God or Gods really is - an opposing point of view which deserves equable respect without mandatory acceptance.

Coming soon .. The endless debate of sexes and relationships.
